This BMW 327 Cabriolet was delivered to the Dutch BMW importer Greeve & Co. in Gravenhage on January 23, 1939, the original color was grey and dark blue. Body is believed to be by Drauz. The car was purchased, site unseen, by Smith from someone in Minnesota in 1979. Upon receipt of the car it was determined that it would need a complete restoration. “You could stand on the ground through the floorboard anywhere in the car” Jim said. Being his first restoration he spent 1400 hours restoring this car in 1980. An older restoration it shows some patina to exterior and interior surfaces, from being used and enjoyed over a 20 year period from 1980 to 2000. After that it has kept company with 14 other vintage BMW’s that he has restored. This car has a few intriguing features such as a steel windshield post, the mounting of the windshield wiper motor, there is no space under the doors and it has no fresh air ventilators.
